The Berlin-based tech startup, Restate (www.restate.dev), reached out asking for help turning a deck of slides into a video.
Immediately it became clear that before we started with the video, they needed a brand to present to the world.
They had toyed with AI to produce a first iteration of a logo, which turned out to be too similar to other logos from similar enterprises (as you probably know by now, today’s AI tends to copy rather than create effectively).

So, while they fine-tuned their slides, we worked with that early logo as a starting point, plus their very valuable feedback based on my first drafts while searching for their logo:
Because they had a solid definition of their core, as well as knowing which brands they liked to be perceived as, and which ones they wanted to avoid being perceived as.
Constructive, clear feedback on the proposals I sent also helped define the correct course, reaching a result in very little time.
This is the final logo:

We then moved onto the video, as they had finalised the slides deck (as seen below):
We made sure no loose ends were left behind. From details of each animation, the timing of the visual-to-audio content correlation, as well as the content itself were distilled to perfection throughout the animation compositing and editing of the video.
Having started from a slides deck, the content in the slides and their order were used as storyboard for the video - which is a major bonus when trying to keep costs low.
We also added on the go a few extra details such as the voice over, and an original backing track composed and recorded exclusively for the video.
We also focused on an animated background as well as the transitions between scenes, to make it obvious that this was a video, not a slides deck.
Lastly, the video sections were rendered separately, for use in both the website and support documentation.
